approval
process involved.
The proposed master planned community consists of a
variety of residential, commercial, recreational and resort
amenities that will cater to both residents and visitors.
The development approach aims to enhance,
restore and
protect environmentally significant features that occur
naturally within the property, by applying “smart growth”
and “green” initiatives.
The proposed
Kensington Coastal
Point
development includes
approximately:
- 1250 residential units
- 450 senior housing units
- 260 vacation units (hotels and villas)
- 27-hole golf course with clubhouse
- 15,000sq m of commercial space
- 60 to 100 slip marina
-
51% green space – 35% golf course,
16% public open space
The planned development also allocates land for a future school site, playing field, fire hall, interpretive centre and Improvement District offices. In addition, the proposed development concept addresses community solutions for water and sewer services.
An application has been submitted to the Regional District of Comox-Strathcona to amend the Official Community Plan, Local Area Plan and Zoning Bylaw to reflect the proposed 342 hectare (845 acres) development. The application is currently being reviewed by the local, regional, provincial and federal government agencies.
